Summary

The Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive drives the scope of municipal waste water treatment processes and requires that water undertakers collect and treat wastewater in a suitable manner to prevent pollution of rivers, lakes, and seas. The directive enforces the level of collection and treatment depending on the plant size, and requires the provision of compliance reports on effluent quality.

A faster and more economical way, compared to external measurements, is the use of laboratory instruments on site for customer self monitoring. It is therefore essential to have access to reliable and simple monitoring solutions, to be confident in the results obtained and to be able to report relevant results to environmetal regulators and authorities on time.
