Former Operator, Operations Supervisor and Plant Manger

Currently holds professional operations licenses: class IV Wastewater Treatment, class IV Collection System and class I Wastewater Lab analyst

His background and foundation are in wastewater operations and management. He started in the wastewater field 15 years ago and quickly moved into operations. In operations he supervised a team of operators during a changing regulatory landscape with new stringent nutrient limits on the horizon. Now having sat in the plant manager role he hopes to bring some new perspectives and foster creative thinking and plant optimizations.

He is a home brew aficionado and enjoys adventuring with his kids in the mountains of Idaho.

Derek Walker is an Applications Development Manager for Hach Company and is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Derek holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science from Colorado State University and a Master’s Degree from University of Colorado. He has worked in several industry laboratories and has been with Hach Company for 20 years with experience in product development, applications management, and field training. Derek has held a Wastewater Operators license in the state of Colorado and contributes regularly to professional water and wastewater industry chapters and publications.
