Protect your ROI by protecting your RO Membranes

Summary:

Join our subject matter experts for a presentation and live Q&A on protecting reverse osmosis (RO) membranes by supplementing the silt density index (SDI) with a surrogate on-line measurement.  ”Running an SDI” takes time and yet only provides a snapshot of what is happening. By adding a continuous measurement to the mix, problems can be headed off before they become a potential fouling issue. Being able to act quickly can result in huge cost savings through less frequent cleaning and/or replacement of the membranes. This session will review the basics of SDI, introduce a supplemental on-line method, walk through a case study, and finally develop a correlation between the two approaches.

Learning Objectives

  • Learn how to determine the SDI of a water sample
  • Understand the downfalls of relying on SDI alone
  • Explore on-line methodology for detecting suspended solids
  • Understand which particles of concern can be measured to protect RO membranes
  • Observe how using a dual methodology can decrease maintenance of an RO system
